A planned gift is a lasting investment in Valley of The Kings Sanctuary and Retreat (VOTK), advancing our mission and ensuring our ability to provide a forever home to rescued, abused, and abandoned animal souls, as we have done for more than 50 years.
Our focus is to care for our current residents with a future forward focus on the unwanted, unhoused, and abandoned street kittens and cats, both domestic, small exotics, and hooved stock. Very few rescues are dedicated to providing a quality of life, food, shelter, love, to the domestic felines who had to grow up fast and always be on the defense. Below are some of the ways you can help.
Will or Trust
You may leave Valley of the Kings:
- A stated dollar amount
- A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid), or
- Specific liquid assets, such as securities
Name VOTK as a Beneficiary
Valley of the Kings Sanctuary and Retreat (VOTK) as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy is a simple and powerful way to support the lifesaving work of our organization without changing your will or living trust. Beneficiary designation gifts pass directly to VOTK without going through the probate process and go right to work to help us provide a safe home for the rescues in our care.
Retirement Accounts
- Many of our donors name VOTK as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of their IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan.
- Individuals who inherit retirement plan assets are usually required to pay income tax on them, so they’re often considered among the best assets to leave to charity.
Bank and Investment Accounts & Commercial Annuities
You can leave a legacy by naming VOTK as a Transfer-on-Death (TOD) or Payable-on-Death (POD) beneficiary on a bank or investment account, or a commercial annuity. Check with your financial institution to see if this option is available to you.
Life Insurance Policies
If you have a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for your family, designating VOTK as a beneficiary is a simple way to support our work.
